SHIPPING POLICIES

The shipping payment consists of a flat $1.00 service fee (no matter how big or small the order) plus the true cost of shipping according to the USPS shipping charts, based on your zip code and the weight of the package. Delivery confirmation and online package tracking is included. I will send you a Paypal funds request for this shipping amount after I have packaged your shipment.

All packages are sent USPS priority mail, first class, or media mail. I will give you a parcel post quote as well on all packages over 1 pound. I ship 3-5 times per week. In general orders will be shipped within 24-48 hours of shipping payment.

For single item orders (for example one book or one pair of jeans), I usually refund your merchandise (shopping cart) payment, and then rebill you via Paypal for the total of the merchandise and shipping cost. This allows you to opt out of the purchase if you feel that shipping is too high.

WHY A SEPARATE SHIPPING PAYMENT?

I apologize for this second payment. I realize that it is inconvenient but it is the only way to assure that you will receive the lowest shipping cost possible. Since I am selling everything so cheap and the items vary so greatly in size and weight, I cannot charge a flat fee or percentage based on merchandise cost that is fair to you and to me. The Paypal shopping cart system for merchants does not have a cool little shipping calculator like is found on eBay that can be used during the shopping cart process. Instead the shipping cost must be tacked on to the shopping cart payment either as a flat dollar fee OR as a flat percentage of the total price. I would have to super inflate this flat fee to make sure that I always get a high enough payment to cover shipping. I have made over 3000 transactions on eBay in the past five years, mostly as a buyer, so I know the pains of shipping cost.

I will try my best to get all your items into a single box to reduce shipping costs. However there are some items are of unusual shape or size that I know upfront will have to be shipped separately. These items have a truck icon in the description. For very large orders that includes both media mail and priority/parcel post only items, it often saves you money to split these items up and ship separately. Also if you purchase items of significantly different sizes or weights I may have to separate them so nothing gets crushed. I reserve the right to charge an additional materials fee for bubble wrap if your order consists of many delicate items or a mixture of many heavy and delicate items. This additional fee is usually $2-$3.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T PAY THE SHIPPING COST?

I will not hold your merchandise indefinately - if after seven calendar days you do not make payment for the shipping cost I will unpack your box. Any items that are desired by another customer will be given to them instead. In order to fulfill my obligation to you, I will then ship a PORTION of your original order, based on what I can send you for the money that you paid during the shopping cart process, to include the cost that I have to pay to ship.

CAN I ESTIMATE SHIPPING COST ON MY OWN?

To estimate shipping costs on your own, first total up the weights of the items that you are interested in. If there is no weight listed yet then I forgot to record the weight when pictures were taken. I do not pre-weigh books - sorry it's just too time consuming, and books go very cheap by media mail.

It may help you to print the page(s) of interest. To estimate packaging materials, add a total of 3 oz for single item orders, and 6 oz for multiple item orders. For really big orders, plan on adding up to a pound (for giant box, newspapers, bubble wrap, etc.). Now visit the USPS domestic calculator here. Enter the weight of the package as you have calculated, along with my zip code (the 'from' = 48371) and your zip code (the 'to').
